bugfix release 1.51

Monday, July 2. 2007
Shit...I seem to have missed some bugs when I released MobMap 1.50. The first (and hopefully last) bugfix release, v1.51, is online for download via the MobMapUpdater program or manual download.

The installer package will be updated as soon as I know I have a stable v1.5x version and database.

MobMap 1.50 is out!

MobMap v1.50 brings several new functions and improvements!

First of all, the biggest one: The item drop information in MobMap has been extended to include the loot of all bosses in all instances! Consequently, a new way to access the drop information has been added. You can now display the loot tables of all instance bosses to directly check what's being dropped by the bosses in any instance. And the best thing is: even if you're taking a look at the purple loot of the latest ultra-high-end raid bosses you'll always be able to see the item tooltips, because a copy of them is stored within the MobMap database and will be displayed if an item is unsafe/has not yet been seen on your server.

Then there's a new option to vertically resize the MobMap window. It's designed for all users of scaled-down interfaces who want to display more information on the screen.

And well, for the rest I'll let the patch notes speak:

v1.50:
- added: new boss loot tables
- changed: MobMap window can now be resized vertically for better overview and less scrolling on downscaled UIs
- added: Huffman-based compression for the quest objective texts, effectively reducing database size in memory by approx. 270kByte
- added: a new item tooltip database that's being used to display tooltips of items that are likely to be unknown on your server
- added: an option to use some more memory than necessary to improve response time of certain queries

[edit] Sorry, there were some inconsistencies during the roll-out of this update. An incomplete version of the addon was online for download through the MobMapUpdater for about one and a half hour from initial release. The version will work without errors, but the new tooltip database won't be used by it. If you downloaded v1.50 during that time, I suggest you to manually get the zip package from the MobMap website and extract it into your addons folder to make sure you've got all the right files.

[edit2] There seems to be another tiny flaw in the latest database files that causes MobMap to throw a Lua error on the recipe screen. I've inserted a preliminary fix into the database builder program that should correct this, so you'll just have to download a fresh database copy to get rid of the errors. But the true source of this error seems to lie in the data collection routines of MobMap, so I'll probably have to release v1.51 soon to fix this (and any other additional errors that might emerge).
