MobMap v1.58

Thursday, November 22. 2007
This is the first MobMap version with a "removed" remark in the changelog. I removed the dot scaling options - they are of no use anymore, since the visual appearance of the MobMap dots on the world map has been improved. Several people complained that the solid white dots weren't exactly a perfect solution. That's why the dots are now surrounded with a black border to make them easily distinguishable from the background, no matter if it's dark or bright white. And because they are bigger now, the (automatic) scaling is no longer needed.

The full changelog of v1.58:
- fixed: a few layer problems and logical errors with the new reagent quicksearch buttons
- fixed: a slight error in the position data collection code
- changed: The MobMap dots on the world map have been reworked. They are bigger now and have a black border to make it easier to distinguish them from the map
- removed: The dot scaling options have been removed, since the new dots are bigger than the old ones in any case.

MobMap v1.57 is out

Thursday, November 15. 2007
This version I just released is some kind of a not-so-hot-hotfix - it does fix an error introduced with the first version for patch 2.3 that caused the game to sometimes throw an error message if you accepted a quest from an object. Besides that, a new feature was added: quicksearch buttons (those things with the question mark on it) for reagents in the tradeskill window! Of course these buttons can be disabled in the options if you don't want them, just like the quicksearch buttons for quests.

The MobMapUpdater got a patch too, raising its version number to 1.67. You might have noticed that the MobMap database showed quite some growth in every direction over the last 24 hours - all but the quest database, which did not grow at all. This was due to a problem with the MobMapUpdater which has been resolved in this latest patch. The new quests should therefore finally be added to the database in the very near future.

MobMap updated for patch 2.3

Tuesday, November 13. 2007
Patch 2.3 is being rolled out on the US realms right now and bound to be published on the EU realms in half a day - time for an updated version of MobMap and the MobMapUpdater.

MobMap v1.56 contains a few changes and improvements besides being compatible with 2.3, the biggest change being an update to the database format. So whether you're downloading 1.56 via the MobMapUpdater or updating manually, make sure to grab a new database copy right afterwards.

Updating the database a little bit more frequently during the next days might be a good idea anyway, since patch 2.3 brings new content to the table that's to be inserted in the MobMap database. And of course: please keep uploading your data to make this possible in the first place!

changelog v1.56:
- changed: slight database format changes to compensate for growing amounts of data and growing ID ranges. You will need to get an updated database copy!
- fixed: an error in the mob name search that prevented some specific mob names from being found
- added: a new zone filtering textbox for the mob positions
- added: item names in the drop rate database can now be linked in chat
- changed: toc version number updated for patch 2.3
- changed: the standard MobMap button placement on the world map has been changed to make room for a new dropdown menu added by Blizzard in patch 2.3

[update] Another quick update of the MobMapUpdater has been released, fixing an error that prevented the balloon tooltip settings in automatic mode from being used correctly
