MobMap 1.52

MobMap v1.52 is up for download via the MobMapUpdater (the zipped version for manual install and an updated installer package will be added during the next hours)!

This release is largely a maintenance release, fixing up some things, changing several things in the background (= the data collection and processing part) and introducing the new (but of course optional) minimap button some users have requested.

Take a look at the patch notes for details:

v1.52:
- fixed: changed all occurrences of bit.band to equivalent modulo operations to fix a problem that reportedly occured on some macintosh machines
- fixed: an error that caused a "heroic only" flag to be displayed incorrectly on some items
- fixed: Quests which are available for both sides, Alliance and Horde, under the same title but with different objective texts should now be distinguished correctly when using the ?-Button next to the quest title (you should get the version for the faction of your current character)
- added: a new minimap button to open/close the MobMap window. The minimap button can be rotated around the minimap or dragged off the map and be placed freely on the screen. It can also be hidden in the MobMap options.
- changed: the mob search result list is now scrollable

Are you able to use Mobmap anyhow (DOWNload updates)?
Because the message just says that you will not be able to UPload collected data.
In this case you could ignore the message.

    ------or------

It seems to be a reading or registry failure because of the "//" in
Sat Aug 04 20:05:21 2007 - WoW base directory set to: K:\World of Warcraft >\\< World of Warcraft\

In HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Blizzard Entertainment/World of Warcraft you should have a "REG_SZ"-entry called "Install Path" with the interger "K:\World of Warcraft\".
(As far as I understand, you already take care about that^^)

If you didn't try a reinstall, do it now and if it doesn't work you may need to update it manually.

    Hi brilliant addon!!

Ive noticed a small bug. This addon seems incompatible with addon "Fastquest" When I click on the quest tracker "?" for mob info. It cannot find the mob. When I disable the "fastquest" it works.

  6. JOSH says:

    Then dont use FastQuest :-)

Every time I gather a herb with version 1.52 I get the following error in BugSack

I updated Mobmap to 1.52 yesterday and I must say:
    Ones again Slarti, amazing work!
I like the free-placeable minimap button the most. You keep an eye out for the community!

But I noticed a small failure in the questline "Verborgene Feinde" (available from Thrall in OG, a quest for ragefire). There is no name for the quest dealer and the location is wrong.

  9. Hodor says:

Here are some things I noticed that aren't working quite right and some feature requests:

    1) If I turn off the Minimap button in the options, the Minimap button still appears - eventhough the option is turned off. I have to then turn on and turn off the button for it to go away again (If I reload the UI, same thing).

    2) If I assign a button with which to open the mobmap window, and the last window selected in mobmap was the "Mobs/NPCs" window, it always enters that key into the "Name" part, deleting whatever was written there before.

3)A feature request: Is it in anyway possible to include a percentage for the pickup parts of the database (So I know for example how often a certain fish is caught at a certain spot, or how often a certain mineral is at a certain spot)?

4)Under "First Aid," the recipes of the silk and heavy linen have the wrong difficulty (0 and 1).

5)Under "Leatherworking," the Molten Belt has no difficulty.

6)Some of the daily quests are not properly identified as such, specifically the quests "Wrangle More Aether Rays!", "Bomb Them Again!", "The Relic's Emanation".

    7) A feature request: Is it in anyway possible to save the location at which a quest was started, or a quest(goal) was completed for those quest(goals) which do not have a mob or pickup with which to achieve the same? So for example all those quests which are started by a "Wanted" sign, would then have as quest-giver the location at which the quest was received (which would be the location of the "Wanted" sign), or quests where you have to go to a certain location, the location of the goal would simply be the location at which the goal was achieved. No idea if that is possible, but it would pretty much fill the last big hole in quest goals.

    Thats all for now. :)

Thanks for this superb addon, it really makes (virtual) life easier :)

Does MobMap need the database to collect data from the game?

I tried logging into the game without any databases, and the error dialog that came up said that it was disabling the addon, so I was wondering if that also disables the Collection module.

Got an error with the german client whenever i click on something i can handle with.
eg. mines, closed doors to open etc.

Fehler: attempt to concatenate local 'target' (a nil value)
    Datei:Interface\AddOns\MobMap\MobMap.lua
    Zeile:772
    Fehler Nummer:3

  12. Willi says:

    Additional Error Text:

Fehler: attempt to concatenate local 'objectName' (a nil value)
    Datei:Interface\AddOns\MobMap\MobMap.lua
    Zeile:738
    Fehler Nummer:1

  13. Matthew says:

Love this addon above all others. Big big dev idea. can the dots on the mab be color coded to identify higher concentrations of reports of a particular mob, instead of just white showing everywhere a mob has been?

  14. Kindara says:

Color coding surely would increase the memory usage of mobmap (an aditional attribute to each and every position...). I think the serverside filtering, Slarti already does before export, should narrow data already down.

  15. Yaggy says:

How about an Auction House/Vendor Database addon? something like "WoWECON" I would gladdy switch from WoWecon to something you guys could implement on the same basis as MobMap
