MobMapUpdater 1.60

I've just finished a major overhaul of the MobMapUpdater program and put v1.60 up for download. You'll get the new version as soon as you run the program the next time.

This update fixes a few very minor glitches, but the main reason for it was the addition of an optional automatic mode. This mode makes it even easier to contribute to the MobMap database on a regular basis: once it's been enabled, the MobMapUpdater will automatically come to life each time you've finished a WoW session and upload whatever data you've collected while playing.

The automatic mode also allows you to update your local MobMap database copy on a regular basis. A new copy can be downloaded automatically every 14 days (I have set this interval to 14 days to prevent people from updating their database automatically too often - it all costs traffic, and someone has to pay the bills). The version of the MobMap addon will also be checked at every upload, and if there's a new version online you get a message.

Of course you can still open the MobMapUpdater main window at any time if you enable automatic mode - just right-click the tiny little systray icon. From there you can start manual uploads or database updates, just as you would do in manual mode, for example to immediately get a database update after a content patch has hit WoW. And of course: the new automatic mode is completely optional! The standard setting after a fresh istallation is "manual mode", you'll have to explicitly enable automatic mode in the new "Options" window in case you want to use it.

Please tell me if there are any new issues with this new version, especially if they're somehow related to the new operating mode.

    Hello.

I don't know German, but I think I have the same thing: "Abnormal program termination" after either "Update the database" or "Upload collected data". Both processes work normally, but crash the updater when they finish. I see messagebox about success of update, press OK, and 1 second later the crash happens. This began from v1.60.

MS Windows XP SP2. Options - by default (i.e., manual mode of update).

    Thank you.

Okay, I see there's a crashing bug somewhere, but I haven't been able to reproduce it here on any of my machines. Could the people with that bug please send the file called "debugout.txt" from the MobMapUpdater installation directory to my e-mail address slartie@gmx.net? It's important that you send the file to me directly after the updater has crashed, to ensure that it contains a log of the crashing session. I hope to be able to figure out the exact position where the crash occurs that way, maybe I can then succeed in reproducing it.

OK, after I sent you the requested email, and after I analyzed your debugging file, I found the problem at least in my case. If you have two accounts, and the first account has "SavedVariables\MobMap.lua" in it, while the second account does not have it, you get the crash. As a temporary workaround, we can copy this file to all accounts - in this case the crash does not happen.

    For me it works
but I do not think that this shout be the final solution because in earlier versions it worked without problems :(

    Anyway (to repeat myself):
    Most usefull AddOn ever!

I could positively say that I also could solve access violation. In my case some friends of my son are plying on my PC generating account directorys in the WTF subfulder. When I deleted them the problem disappeared.

Regards and keep up the good work

I'm currently using a Mac and would like to know where to publish the updated database files. Each time I attempt to install the files (WTF or to interface / addons) I receive an error message that states that there is no location data available and the addon is disabled. Can you tell me where to manually place your updated database files please?
