MobMap v1.61 - out now!

Researching the mysterious "port freeze" bug was easier than I thought: the hint that Gatherer was affected pointed me directly to the one thing that Gatherer and MobMap have in common: they both use the Astrolabe library to display things on the minimap. And fixing this bug was even easier: the developer of Astrolabe, Esamynn, already knew that his library was freezing the client and a fix was already available in his sourcecode repository. Thanks Esamynn!

And the problem at line 599 was rather simple to fix, too, so I decided to release v1.61 with these crucial fixes immediately. It's online for you to grab via the MobMapUpdater or the manual download!

Stimmt, gibt auch nen neues Gatherer seit heute mit "- GATH-52: upgraded to Astrolabe rev 78 which fixes a bug that was causing an infinite loop whenever you changed continents without going through a loading screen"

    :-)

Nice work, thank you very much :).

My mobmap, ever since the patch, doesnt work on startup. It gives me this error.

The format of the position database is incompatible with this MobMap version. Please update both the database and the MobMap addon either via the MobMapUpdater or manually from www.mobmap.de!

MobMap has been deactivated for this session.

  4. Wes says:

Why are the mobmap locations in the minimap so large now? They used to be small squares, now they are huge. I do not see anything in the Mobmap options to change the sizing. Am I just missing the setting?

There is an Alarm from Kaspersky on the new Version of Mobmap. On WoW Europe there is a thread also: http://forums.wow-europe.com/thread.html?topicId=3404932591&postId=34045666409&sid=3#13

  6. *sob* << well.. not now ^_^ says:

    Yeah ^^
Thanks for the "freeze" fix :)
(even if it's astrolabe, thanks anyway)

I manually downloaded the 1.61 zip, then updated the DB via mobmap updater, no trojan found (antivir, up to date).

    Thanks :)

Kaspersky meldet beim Installer download einen Trojaner: trojan-PSW.Win32.WOW.arr

Das ist dsa erste mal das er das meldet.

  8. Treetrunk says:

The Mobmap updater seems to have a Trojan in it. I have been using this addon for a long time with no problems but when i just used the updater, my antivirus stopped a Trojan from it.

  9. paranoid says:

I have the same errors with kaspersky internet security 7...

    trojan-PSW.Win32.WOW.arr

    perhaps is your webspace compromised?

  10. Kindara says:

That trojan-thingy is a known false positive according to that wow-europe thread linked above (acknowledged by kaspersky people).

  11. Rob says:

Is this fix the cause of the Mini Map dots being so huge? Now they are so big that they cover up resource nodes if you are looking for places to mine. Don't suppose we can get a way to size the mini map dots can we?

  12. Slarti says:

Yes, this is a known problem which will be fixed in the next release.

  13. Rob says:

    thank you!

  14. Mag says:

    Slarti, great work!
What I would love was some feature to display known flight paths/gryphon masters for ally/horde on the map. Wouldn't that be nice?

    Thanks for considering.

    Could you add this function:
Check a quest item belong to which quest.
I often loot some "quest type item" but don't know what should do with it.
If I know which quest it belong to, that would be easy.

  16. Deathforsale says:

Sorry for the random question, but I cannot find a contact link anywhere on this site. Can someone please tell me what the MobMap Updater app is looking for inside the WoW install folder to consider it "valid"? I keep pointing it at my World of Warcraft folder and the Updater keeps telling me it isn't valid.

To be fair, I have WoW installed on my Mac, but I'm running MobMap Updater inside Parallels. Since a user's operating system is irrelevant in the AddOns folder, I'd assume that MobMap Updater should still be able to update the mod via the method I'm using, but my guess is that the Updater is looking for .EXE files to confirm the install folder? Can I manually edit an .INI file for the Updater to force it to recognize my WoW folder?

    Thanks!

  17. Slarti says:

Yeah, it actually is looking for a file called WoW.exe in the World of Warcraft folder. But it ain't checking the integrity of that file, so you might just try to create an empty file called "WoW.exe", that should fool the updaters' wow directory check.

  18. Rob says:

I was wondering, I notice there's a lot of words that are crunched together in quest text. Was that due to some older code or something? This gets particularly annoying when the scrunched words are part of a mobs name. >_< Does the quest text ever get updated / refreshed?

  19. Hex says:

Getting a mobmap error whenever I lewt a body - new bug since the patch on 5/13.
