v1.79 beta -> v1.79 final :o)

I'm glad that this damn bug has finally been solved: The MobMapUpdater has been updated to version 1.79, which fixes the uploading problems some people constantly experienced.

You'll get the update automatically through the auto-update process (even those of you who installed v1.79 beta I posted will get the final that way).

[update] grrr stupidity strikes again! I shouldn't release new versions and then forget to tell the server that uploads from that new version of the client are actually valid and shouldn't be turned down because of the version number. The mistake has been corrected, now everything should work fine.

  11. Natasem says:

i have updater version 1.79; addon version 2.02

when ever i try to upload after exiting the game i get a window that pops up saying "Connection Closed Gracefully" is it supposed to say that? and if so what does it mean?

  12. Gradivus says:

Anytime I click the "upload collected data"

It either stops responding or says what Natasem says above "Connection Closed Gracefully" just thought I would let you know.

Love the program, would like to contribute but it wont allow me :P

  13. Mike says:

Same, i still cant upload, i have to force the shutdown of the program.

  14. Slarti says:

"Connection Closed Gracefully" generally means that the connection to the MobMap server was closed somehow before the data upload was finished, either by the server itself or by some intermediate (like a proxy server or a firewall).

This can happen in rare cases if the MobMap server is overloaded, but that shouldn't generally be the case and it should be fixable by simply retrying the upload manually. But as I said, it can also be caused by some intermediate program like a firewall or network problems. This is most probably the reason if someone has these errors all the time - because if it was a server-side issue, anyone would experience it.

    Hallo

Not sure where else to state this, but is anyone else having trouble with the mobmap not accurately showing mob locations on the main map anymore? It only started misbehaving after the most recent patch on July 15th, but whenever I search anything, when it goes to my map to show me where it is, it doesn't show anything. Strange thing is, it still shows on my Alphamap addon, just not on my main map.

    Feature proposal:
maybe it would be good to add a function to "report" wrong, unreadable or "unnecessary" quest comments. I stumbled over some quests that showed wrong comments or some without any helpful information. No idea whether new comments are checked before injecting into the database, but I think a kind of "review" or "post review" process would help to increase the quality of some quest comments.

  18. Slarti says:

Actually every single quest comment is being read before it is published (or deleted). But because of the amount of comments I am unable to cross-check their actual content for correctness, the quick pre-checking is primarily done to filter out completely redundant stuff and stupid e-peen shit like "W00t totally easy with my lvl 45 shaman!" (you don't want to know how many of those crap comments I actually get...).

But: if a comment says that another comment was wrong on something and delivers a corrected version, I usually do such a more extensive check to find out whether the first comment truly is wrong. If this turns out to be true, the first one is being deleted and replaced with the correct comment. So there actually is some kind of post-review process, but I need a hint being pointed at seemingly wrong comments and a corrected version - cross-checking and fixing everything is just plain impossible in spite of several thousand comments (like in the German database).

Nevertheless, the idea of a specialized "report this comment as crap" button still might be worth thinking about for a future version.
