MobMap v2.10 is out!

So here it is!

This version does finally add quest events to the database, so MobMap should now be able to pull up an answer for practically every quest target in WoW :o)

Besides this bigger feature addition there have been several smaller fixes and changes, as you can read in the changelog:

- changed: There has been a major DATABASE FORMAT CHANGE! You'll need to download a new database when installing v2.10!
- added: New quest event database, which can be queried through a new interface panel or by using the quicksearch buttons on quest event targets
- changed: Options panel was moved to the Blizzard Interface->Addons settings screen and reorganized slightly
- fixed: The new settings added with v2.02 (flashing dots, battlefield minimap, quest comment autoshow) are now being saved permanently
- changed: The functionality of the quicksearch buttons next to quest titles has been further improved. These buttons now use the Blizzard QuestIDs to find the correct quest whenever possible.

And you know the procedure: if you encounter any new bugs, please report them here in the comments!

Good work with this new version!
I encountered a problem with my addon LightHeaded:
When I open it; I cannot use the next and previous pages on the bottom of the addon.
Could this be a problem related to the new version?

  2. The Cody says:

Same problem with my and my roommate's lightheaded windows after installing 2.10

  3. Slarti says:

Alright, that's enough confirmation for me having to take a look at this...

  4. The Cody says:

So I renamed my interface and wtf folders, and tried a "fresh" version with lightheaded and mobmap installed; it worked perfectly fine. I'm going to go through and add each addon until it gives me the same bug.

  5. The Cody says:

I put back the data from my wtf folder, to try to get the bug. So, i got it down to mobmap, lightheaded, and tourguide (all the newest versions as of right now) to produce the bug. But, when I clear out the wtf folder, the bug disappears. Maybe it's a setting no longer used in one of those addons that hasn't been cleared out of the lua in saved variables? I'm going to keep trying to get the bug to occur with the least done to a "fresh" version of WoW.

  6. The Cody says:

So, I didn't update, or do anything I can't account for, but the bug has disappeared, and I can't get it to come back. I copied the contents of the backed up interface folder and wtf folders into freshly created folders (should be exactly the same as before I started messing with things). Now, the bug is gone. I've deleted and recopied the contents of both folders, twice; it doesn't want to come back.

And to be a lot more clear on what the bug is: in lightheaded, when you click on the next page button, it goes to the next page for a split second then goes back to the first page. Same thing for clicking on a name, it shows that page for an instant, then goes back to the first page for that quest. So, the buttons work, it just resets to the first page at the first opportunity it get.

  7. The Cody says:

Ok, so I forgot to re-enable mobmap after copying over the wtf data, it still has the bug. I'm still working on which saved variable is causing the problem.

  8. The Cody says:

"Fresh" wtf and interface folders. Install:

    MobMap 2.10
    LightHeaded 421
    TourGuide 2.4.3.32-beta (updated through wowmatrix)

Load a guide in tourguide, click through one or more objectives, open quest log, lightheaded bug occurs.

This doesn't happen with mobmap 2.02 or without mobmap at all.

Same error after downgrading tourguide to it's latest non-beta (2.4.2.30) available.

The really strange part of this is my roommate doesn't use tourguide, and after using wowaceupdater (after updating to mobmap 2.10) the problem went away on his system.

  9. Slarti says:

All right, thanks :) I'll see if I can recreate this bug here, so I might find out what it is exactly that MobMap does that breaks those buttons. It sounds like a really odd side-effect, but that wouldn't be the first time...

  10. Slarti says:

Okay, found it. It really IS one of those very odd side-effects, but it has nothing to do with TourGuide, it's related to the quest tracker of the standard UI, and it's pretty complicated.

But I think I can fix it, so watch out for a MobMap v2.11 some time soon :o)

[edit] ah...you might as well beta-test the LightHeaded Fix:

    http://www.firehead.de/web/MobMapLightheadedFix.zip

Just extract the archive into your MobMap directory and overwrite the existing file. It seems to work for me, but it's never bad to get a confirmation from someone else...

  11. The Cody says:

That did it. It's all working as expected. Thank you so very much. I was already missing mobmap.

  12. Ayindi says:

    Hi,

  16. T.V. says:

After updating to MobMap 2.10 my Win XP gets an error when uploading.

    No problem on my Vista.

    Update works fine.
    Addon works fine ingame.
I upload manually on the XP.
I have tried to delete old info and only upload latest - but it is still in error.

    Error:
Zugriffsverletzung bei Adresse 0D0CE24E in Modul 'MobMapUpdaterExternals.dll'. Lesen von Adresse 00015290.

Feel free to contact me on mail for further information.

  17. Slarti says:

This probably doesn't actually relate to the new MobMap version, as there wasn't any change in the actual data collection.

But it's a bug nevertheless, probably somewhere in the MobMapUpdater, and I'd like to solve it. Could you please send me some WoW cache files from your Windows XP installation to slartie@gmx.net? I'd need the files in the [WoW directory]/Cache/WDB/[deDE/enUS/enGB] directory (they should all have a .wdb ending), specifically the files "creaturecache.wdb", "gameobjectcache.wdb", "itemcache.wdb", "pagetextcache.wdb" and "questcache.wdb".

Additionally, a copy of the debugout.txt file in your MobMapUpdater installation directory might help. But it's important that you first try to upload some data and let the updater crash in the process before you send me that file to make sure it contains a log of the events right before the crash occured.

Thanks in advance for your help!

  18. Icedog says:

Could you add an option to display quests for a zone or Instance? Like Molton Core, and it would diplay all quest and who gives them and where to get them?

    Love the addon!

  19. Mars says:

I agree to this request; a map of quest givers in a zone would be useful.

  20. Alles-Cool says:
